Happy St. Paddy's Day

Mom gave me Dan's famous soda bread recipe to share with friends at a St. Paddy's day brunch this morning. Deirdre had bangers, rashers, black sausage, eggs, brown bread, and boiled tomatoes too. The bread turned out great even though I used cumin seeds instead of caraway seeds, but the surprising spiciness combined well with the currants. I might have to make another batch this weekend.

  1. Wow, that looks good. I'm going to have to talk Dan into making some today! He won't like the cumin seed idea, but it sounds interesting to me! Your Irish breakfast sounds very authentic. Just imagine eating that every day for two weeks - that's what Pam and I did on our trip!

  2. That breakfast was a little intense. By 5pm I was woozy and my stomach hurt. A walk home in the 50 degree weather helped, but I know there's no way I could eat that every day. You guys are tough!
