I joined ravelry

Even though I'm supposed to be writing my dissertation ever hour of every day until it's done, I have also been poking around online looking for craft projects. Ravelry is a "knit and crochet community" and is home to tons of crafters who share their patterns, advice, etc. online. It's really fun to check out if you have time (and no dissertation to write).

    I joined, too. I found tons of patterns and have already started knitting a scarf from one free pattern that I got there.
    I don't quite understand it, though - I feel as though I should be contributing somehow rather than just mooching free patterns.

    I feel the same way! I'm more of a sewer than a knit/crocheter, though, so I can only offer various rectangles.
