I posted this to brag about Lauren's first quilt! She made this several years ago, I think while she was in high school. At the point where she had the top all finished and pinned to the batting and backing, somehow Jessie (the dog) discovered it in the basement, and took a few naps on it and otherwise abused it. A couple of times, we had to un-pin all of the quilt pins, wash everything, an re-pin it. But, she eventually finished it, and it now looks beautiful in our little porch room.
I have a similar story about a quilt that I started in high school (I think) and finished in Chapel Hill about 6 years later. I went through phases of loving it, hating it, and then back to loving it. Now I sleep with it in the winter and try my best to keep the dog off of it. Nice job, Lauren. Very patriotic.
ReplyDeleteGood job, Lauren! I remember admiring that quilt at your parent's house. I'm sure that the quilt is made more special by the fact that Jessie loved it so much! Do you think that working on Grandma's 75th birthday quilt at Kelly's Island helped get you interested in quilting? I can still picture all of us sitting around working on that!
