I finally finished something to post here! I've been thinking about this since last August when I first saw the striped fabrics and the pattern. I started working on it about a month ago and just finished it today. I think it has quite an impact in spite of being pretty easy to make. What do you think?
I love it, Kathy. Where did you get all the stripes - did you pick them out individually or buy a packet, or just use your stripe stash? I just ordered the book "Stash-Buster Quilts" in my ongoing attempt to use up some of my older fabrics (and thus justify buying more!) I do have some nice stripes...
ReplyDeleteI did all three. I bought a small packet of stripes, and I had some in my collection, and when I saw something that seemed right, I bought it.
ReplyDeleteIf you're looking for scrap quilts, there's a website that has some really nice free patterns. It's quiltville.com. I especially like the one called Chunky Churndash. That alternate block that sort of extends the background of the pieced block would work with a lot of different pieced blocks and if you don't have enough of one fabric for the backgrounds it would be a good exercise in color and value.
I'm going to try that one and a log cabin quilt to use up some of my blues and greens, which are overflowing my storage baskets.
It's great. It looks like a series of picture frames that just continue into the distance until the limit of perspective. Neat. Looks like a great way to get rid of lots of solids.
ReplyDeleteKathy - it's beautiful! It looks so simple when you look at it close-up, but it looks much more interesting from a distance.
